What is Emotional Awareness & Self-Regulation? Emotional awareness is the ability to recognize and understand your feelings and the feelings of others, while self-regulation is the skill to manage and respond to those emotions in healthy, productive ways.

Why It’s Important: For neurodiverse teens, emotional awareness and self-regulation can be challenging for a range of reasons, such as problems with feeling emotions or sensory sensitivities making emotions feel more intense or harder to understand and control. Emotional awareness and self-regulation are important for social relationships, self-advocacy, achieving personal goals, and building healthy coping strategies. Our group offers a unique space to practice these skills while feeling understood and empowered.

What We Offer:

  • Understanding Emotions: Learn to identify, express, and understand a wide range of feelings
  • Building Coping Skills: Develop strategies for handling overwhelming emotions in healthy ways
  • Self-Regulation Tools: Gain practical techniques to manage impulsive behaviour, anxiety, and stress
  • Social & Emotional Skills: Strengthen communication, empathy, and conflict resolution abilities
  • Peer Support: Connect with others who share similar experiences in a supportive, non-judgmental setting
  • Neurodiverse & LGBTQ2S+ Affirming Care: We create a space that celebrates and respects each individual’s identity. Our approach recognizes the unique neurological experiences of neurodiverse teens while also offering support and validation for LGBTQ2S+ identities. Every participant is seen, heard, and valued for who they truly are.
