At Possibilities, we believe that supporting neurodiverse learners takes collaboration between families, schools, and community professionals. Our School Spotlight series highlights private schools that offer inclusive learning environments, specialized programs, and individualized supports designed to meet a range of developmental and learning needs. These features help parents explore private school education options and connect with schools that align with their child’s strengths and support needs.

What Makes WillowWood School Unique?

“WillowWood is a unique learning environment where students and families have a deep sense of belonging. We understand that when learning environments center the whole child, academic gaps become opportunities for growth rather than barriers. At WillowWood, we believe in the power of education to transform lives by reaching students where they are and helping them achieve their goals. We don’t limit ourselves to traditional methods—we persist until we find an approach that meets the diverse needs of our students.” (Melissa Grant – Lower and Middle School Principal)

An individual-centred independent school where “one size does not fit all” and learning is personalized within curriculum, to each student’s strengths, needs, and dignity.

  • Small class sizes (average ~10 students, max ~16) allow for meaningful relationships with teachers and a warm, holistic learning atmosphere.
  • A pod system and cross-level schedule that supports learners at their instructional level, not just their age/grade.
  • A longstanding tradition (since 1980) of targeted, personalized education where students are encouraged to discover and enjoy learning.

How Does WillowWood School Support Neurodiverse Students?
